SitiWanMahani -  Cameron draf resolusi UK membentangkan kepada PBB ke atas Syria. Majlis Keselamatan PBB telah bersedia untuk perlawanan ke atas Syria kemudian pada Rabu. Perdana Menteri Britain, David Cameron telah merangka satu resolusi untuk membentangkan kepada PBB. Walau bagaimanapun, ia seolah-olah pasti akan veto oleh Rusia dan mungkin China.

Britain, seperti Amerika Syarikat, mempunyai kapal-kapal perang di Mediterranean. Ia juga mempunyai pangkalan udara di Cyprus, 200 kilometer dari pantai Syria. Cameron bercakap kepada Presiden Amerika Syarikat, Barack Obama di telefon pada malam Selasa, jurucakap dari pejabat beliau disahkan, berkata kedua-dua lelaki telah bersetuju terdapat “keraguan” yang kerajaan Syria telah di sebalik serangan kimia didakwa minggu lepas.

Kuasa-kuasa Barat sedang mempertimbangkan tindakan ketenteraan untuk menghukum Syria Presiden Bashar Al ‘Assad untuk serangan yang dikatakan bahawa membunuh beratus-ratus berhampiran Damsyik. Parlimen Perancis akan bertemu untuk membincangkan keadaan di kemudian hari Rabu.

Negara-negara lain telah menyuarakan bantahan mereka kepada mana-mana campur tangan. Ali Larijani, Iran parlimen speaker berkata: “Keputusan itu satu langkah yang bijak akan menjadi huru-hara serantau dan api akan melanda negara-negara yang mudah percaya di rantau ini.”

Iran khuatir jika Assad telah digulingkan, dia akan digantikan oleh sama ada sekutu Barat atau oleh radikal Islam Sunni terikat ke Arab Saudi, kedua-duanya dianggap sebagai musuh oleh Syiah Iran. Syria juga merupakan saluran untuk bekalan Iran Syiah Hizbullah militan di Lubnan.

Sementara itu, laporan media Israel bahawa pegawai-pegawai Syria mengancam tindakan balas terhadap Israel untuk mana-mana serangan Barat. Israel akan menggerakkan semua pertahanan peluru berpandu sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga.

UK's Cameron drafts resolution to present to UN on Syria

The UN Security Council is set for a showdown over Syria later on Wednesday. British Prime Minister David Cameron has drafted a resolution to present to the UN. However it seems certain to be vetoed by Russia and probably China.

Britain, like the US, has warships in the Mediterranean. It also has an air base on Cyprus, 200 kilometres from the Syrian coast. Cameron spoke to US President Barack Obama on the phone on Tuesday night, a spokesman from his office confirmed, saying both men had agreed there was "no doubt" that the Syrian government had been behind last week's alleged chemical attack.

Western powers are considering military action to punish Syria's President Bashar al-Assad for the alleged attack that killed hundreds near Damascus. The French parliament will meet to discuss the situation later on Wednesday.

Other countries have voiced their opposition to any intervention. Ali Larijani, Iran's parliament speaker said: "The result of such an unwise move will be regional chaos and the fire will engulf the credulous countries of the region."

Iran is concerned that if Assad were overthrown, he would be replaced by either allies of the West or by radical Sunni Islamists tied to Saudi Arabia, both regarded as hostile by Shi'ite Iran. Syria is also a conduit for Iranian supplies to Shi'ite Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reports that Syrian officials are threatening retaliation against Israel for any Western attack. Israel is deploying all of its missile defences as a precaution.
