SitiWanMahani - Syria mengalu-alukan tawaran Rusia untuk meletakkan senjata kimia di bawah kawalan Antarabangsa. Damsyik mengalu-alukan panggilan Rusia untuk kawalan menyerahkan senjata kimia kepada masyarakat antarabangsa, Menteri Luar Syria berkata, mengulas kenyataan Sergey Lavrov selepas kedua-dua bertemu di ibu negara Rusia.

"Syria Republik Arab mengalu-alukan inisiatif Rusia, berdasarkan penjagaan kerajaan Syria mengenai kehidupan rakyat dan keselamatan negara kita," kata Menteri Luar Syria Walid al-Muallem berkata sebagai tindak balas kepada kenyataan oleh rakan sejawatannya dari Rusia itu.

"Kami menyeru pihak berkuasa Syria bukan sahaja bersetuju meletakkan senjata kimia penyimpanan di bawah kawalan antarabangsa, tetapi juga bagi pemusnahan lagi dan kemudian menyertai Pertubuhan bagi Larangan Senjata Kimia," kata Menteri Luar Rusia Sergey Lavrov awal.

Britain telah memberi respons kepada dialog Rusia-Syria, mengatakan bahawa senjata kimia penyerahan idea untuk Syria tidak boleh digunakan sebagai "taktik gangguan".

"Jika Syria untuk meletakkan senjata kimia melampaui digunakan di bawah pengawasan antarabangsa jelas yang akan menjadi satu langkah besar ke hadapan," kata Cameron kepada Parlimen. "Kita perlu berhati-hati walaupun untuk memastikan ini tidak adalah taktik gangguan untuk membincangkan sesuatu yang lain daripada masalah di atas meja."

Ketua PBB telah dipanggil untuk langkah-langkah untuk mengadakan peruntukan bagi penyimpanan selamat dan kemusnahan kimia Syria senjata senjata.

"Saya yakin bahawa masyarakat antarabangsa akan mengambil langkah cepat untuk memastikan bahawa senjata kimia rizab disimpan di tempat yang selamat dan akan dimusnah," kata Ban Ki-moon.

Damascus welcomes Russia’s call to hand control over its chemical weapons to the international community, the Syrian Foreign Minister said responding to Sergey Lavrov's statement after the two met in the Russian capital.

“Syria Arab Republic welcomes Russia’s initiative, based on the Syrian’s government care about the lives of our people and security of our country,” Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said in response to the statement by his Russian counterpart.

“We are calling on the Syrian authorities not only agree on putting chemical weapons storages under international control, but also for its further destruction and then joining the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons,” Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier.

Britain has responded to the Russia-Syria dialogue, saying that the chemical weapons handover idea for Syria must not be used as a “distraction tactic”.

"If Syria were to put its chemical weapons beyond use under international supervision clearly that would be a big step forward," Cameron told parliament. "We have to be careful though to make sure this is not a distraction tactic to discuss something else rather than the problem on the table."

The UN chief has called for measures to provide for the safe storage and destruction of the Syrian chemical weapons arsenal.

“I am sure that the international community will take quick measures to make sure that these chemical weapons reserves are stored in a safe place and are to be destroyed,” Ban Ki-moon said.
