Perdana
Thailand’s
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has rejected protesters’ calls for an
unelected "people's council" to pick a new leader for the country.
The PM said a “people’s council” is an unelected body of “good people” that
would virtually suspend the country’s democratic system.
“We
don't know how to make it happen. Right now we don't see any way to resolve the
problem under the constitution,” she said in a 12-minute televised news
conference.

Walau
nampaknya terbukti palsu kemudian.
Diambil
Bangkok penyokong pembangkang Parti Demokrat, mendesak peletakan jawatan
bekas Perdana Menteri Thaksin Shinawatra.
kuasa.
However,
the premier said the government was willing to “open every door” for
negotiation. That came after protest leader, Suthep Thaugsuban, indicated he
wouldn’t be satisfied with Yingluck's resignation or new elections.
"If
there is any way I can restore peace I am willing to do it. The government does
not have to hold on to power, we only want peace," Shinawatra said. She
also told the news conference that police would not use force against the
protesters, which apparently proved false later.
Taken
as a whole, the demonstrators’ statements and the premier’s words appear to
indicate that negotiations aren’t going to take place any time soon. The
protesters, mostly middle-class Bangkok supporters of the opposition Democrat
Party, are demanding the prime minister’s resignation, claiming she is a proxy
for her brother: former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He was deposed in a
2006 military coup, accused of widespread corruption and abuse of power.

will soon be found,” the event’s official webpage reads.
SitiWanMahani- Perdana
mahu menjatuhkan kerajaan beliau.
Beliau
Yingluck, tumpuan utama demonstrasi sejak hujung minggu.
Keganasan
berhampiran ‘Government House,” Paradorn Pattanathabutr, ketua Majlis
Keselamatan Negara, kepada Reuters.
Gas
berbanding dolar walaupun Bank of Thailand campur tangan untuk menyokongnya.
Walau bagaimanapun, ia pulih sedikit selepas komen Yingluck mengenai protes.
Thai Prime Minister Calls for
talks As police use rubber bullets
on protesters . . .
Thai
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Monday she would "open every
door" to find a peaceful solution to the current political crisis, as
thousands of protesters took to the streets of the capital seeking to topple
her government.
She
told a news conference that police would not use force against the protesters.
But later, the national security chief said rubber bullets were being used as
protesters threatened to advance to Yingluck's office, the focal point of the
demonstrations since the weekend.
The
violence is the latest twist in a conflict pitting Bangkok's middle class and
royalist elite against the mostly poor, rural supporters of Yingluck and her
brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, a populist former prime minister who was ousted in
a military coup in 2006 and lives in self-imposed exile. A Reuters reporter
said demonstrators had succeeded in taking down at least one outer layer of the
concrete barriers set up by the authorities to defend Government House,
Yingluck's office in the heart of Bangkok.
After
using round upon round of teargas on Sunday to repel the protesters, police
stepped up their response on Monday. "We are alternating between the use
of water cannons, teargas and rubber bullets. Rubber bullets are being used in
one area only and that is the bridge near Government House," Paradorn Pattanathabutr,
the head of the National Security Council, told Reuters.
Teargas
was also used against protesters at the headquarters of the Bangkok
metropolitan police. Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban met Yingluck late on
Sunday but insisted there were no negotiations to end the worst political
crisis since bloody unrest in 2010. "I told Yingluck that if police put
down their weapons, we will welcome them as they are also Thai," he told
supporters later. "I told Yingluck that this will be our only meeting and
we will not meet again until the people win."
The
meeting, he said, was arranged by the military, a powerful institution that has
taken sides against Thaksin-allied governments in previous crises and put down
a pro-Thaksin movement in 2010. More than 90 people died then. This time, the
military has taken a back seat. "The military has positioned itself as
neutral and it wants to see a peaceful way out," Yingluck told the news
conference.
Thai
financial markets were weak on Monday, with the baht currency down against the
dollar despite Bank of Thailand intervention to support it. However, it
recovered slightly after Yingluck's comments on the protests. The baht has
fallen 3 percent since early November and the benchmark stock index has lost
5.8 percent in the past month. The cost of insuring exposure to Thai government
debt via credit default swaps (CDS) has also crept up in recent weeks.
Thaksin,
who won over poor rural and urban voters with populist policies, was convicted
in absentia of graft in 2008 but he dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
He is widely seen as the power behind Yingluck's government, sometimes holding
meetings with the cabinet by webcam. The protests have been joined by the
opposition Democrats, Thailand's oldest political party. It has not won an
election in more than two decades and has lost every national vote for the past
13 years to Thaksin or his allies.
Suthep,
64, was a deputy prime minister in the Democrat-led government that lost power
to Yingluck in a 2011 election. He wants a vaguely defined "people's
council" to replace her government and for a parliament made up of
nominated worthies.
"The
protesters' demands are impossible to meet under the framework of the
constitution," Yingluck told the news conference.

Syarikat, menganjurkan peningkatan jumlah perhimpunan.
Kerajaan
Pakistan sering bercakap menentang serangan Drone Amerika Syarikat, banyak
Perhimpunan Agung PBB.

THOUSANDS
protest US Drone Strikes in Pakistan
Thousands
of people took to the streets in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore to protest
against ongoing US drone strikes, amid a rise in local protests against US
tactics.
Around
5,000 demonstrators called on the US to immediately stop the drone assaults on
the country. The event was organized by the Defence of Pakistan Council, which
is comprised of 40 religious and political groups, AFP reported.
Protesters
chanted slogans to block NATO supplies being transported to Afghanistan through
Pakistan.
Recently,
local residents have become more vocal against the US tactics, organizing
increasing numbers of rallies. Just over one week ago, thousands of
demonstrators protesting US drone strikes in Pakistan blocked a main road in
the northern Peshawar province, used to transport NATO supplies to and from Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s
government often speaks out against US drone strikes, heavily criticizing the
tactic and calling it a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty but critics accuse
the government of not actively doing enough to stop the strikes.
The
US has also faced significant international pressures on account of its
attacks. Amnesty International released a report in October, arguing that the
US officials, who are responsible for carrying out the drone strikes, may have
to stand trial for war crimes. It also listed extensive civilian casualties in
Pakistan. Human Rights Watch has issued a similar report on Yemen.
Despite
criticism, the US has carried out hundreds of drone strikes since 2004. In
October, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counterterrorism, Ben
Emmerson, said that US drone strikes have killed 2,200 in the past decade, 400
of whom were civilians.
Pakistan
confirmed that “at least 400 civilians had died as a result of remotely piloted
aircraft strikes and a further 200 individuals were regarded as probable
non-combatants,” Emmerson said in an interim report to the UN General Assembly.
Within
the last week, one of Pakistan’s major political parties published
the name of what it believed to be the CIA’s chief operative in Islamabad,
after a US drone strike killed five people the previous week. The group was
demanding that the spy chief face murder charges.

SitiWanMahani- Ketua
menjelang tahun 2015 .
Kenyataan
itu Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Amazon datang kira-kira sebulan selepas Amerika
Syarikat Penerbangan Persekutuan Pentadbiran (FAA) mendedahkan satu skim
Amazon
plans Drone delivery to US Customers
Amazon
CEO Jeff Bezos has announced his company plans to use ‘octocopter’ mini-drones
to deliver goods for US customers – in just 30 minutes. The ‘Prime Air’ system
is set to start running in four or five years. It requires additional safety
testing and federal approval.
"I
know this looks like science fiction. It's not," Bezos told CBS
television's 60 Minutes program. The technology is “very green,” he indicated.
“It’s better than driving trucks around.”
The
drones are set to be able to deliver packages that weigh up to 5lbs (2.3kg),
which represents roughly 86 percent of packages that Amazon delivers, Bezos
told, as quoted by Reuters.
The
drones will be powered by electric motors, and are set to cover an area of 16km
in radius. Their operations will be carried out autonomously, with GPS
transmitted to the devices.
Amazon
said the octocopters would be "ready to enter commercial operations as
soon as the necessary regulations are in place." The Federal Aviation is
currently developing rules for unmanned vehicles.
The
company in fact projected a more optimistic timeline than Bezos himself for the
project to be activated, saying drones could commence deliveries as early as
2015.
The
Amazon CEO’s statement comes about a month after the US Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) revealed a detailed scheme for drones to roam across American skies
within the next two years.
The
plan set September 2015 as a deadline for integrating UAVs into US airspace,
and six possible drone test sites will be selected out of 26 proposed ones by
the end of 2013.
